Sussex County Farmers Market

The Sussex County Farmers Market has found a home at the Sussex County Fairgrounds!

The Sussex County Fairgrounds will soon host the Sussex County Farmer's Market. Scheduled to open on Saturday, August 15, the Sussex County Farmer's Market will bring the best of locally produced farm products and produce to the local and visiting consumer.

This new Farmer’s Market seeks to satisfy an ever-increasing consumer demand for fresh, wholesome and great tasting food. The market will also address some of the challenges faced by consumers looking to buy locally produced, farm-fresh products- quality, consistency, variety and convenience.

Additionally, it will also provide Sussex County farmers a solution to the challenges of bringing their products directly to consumers in a viable and cost effective manner, and in a venue that is not weather dependant-the new farmer’s market building is fully enclosed. This building was made possible through a federal earmark secured by Congressman Frelinhuysen and supported through cooperative efforts of elected state and county officials, NJ State Fair representatives and local farmers.

The Sussex County Fairgrounds has long been recognized as a venue of choice for family activities and events in Sussex County. The new SC Farmer's Market will not only enhance the venue, but also help spread the word about the unique diversity of idyllic Sussex County. That's good news for all.

Although the Sussex County Farmers Market is scheduled to open August 15, visitors to the NJ State Fair® Sussex County Farm and Horse Show can preview some “Sussex County Fresh” at the Farmers Market tent located in front of the greenhouse throughout the Fair (July 31 to August 9).

While the Sussex County Farmer’s Market has many clear benefits, perhaps best of all will be its ability in helping to forge a personal connection between the farmer and the consumer. Giving the public the opportunity to get to know the local farmers, whose efforts and passions help feed families throughout the state and region, has value beyond measure. It will also provide our local farmers the opportunity to market newly developed value added products straight out of our commercial kitchen project (funded by the NJ Highlands Council).

Keep watching for more Sussex County Farmer's Market updates, mark your calendar and come join the Grand Opening celebrations. And remember... whenever possible, BUY FRESH, BUY LOCAL.
